About Us

Us mostly means me. My name is Shelie Russell and I live on a little ranch near Myrtle Creek, Oregon (south of Roseburg in Douglas County) with my husband and my kids and my critters. I attended and graduated from Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon and I have an an AAS in Desktop Marketing and a Certificate in Business Merchandising.

Desktop Marketing is basically everything you can do to market a business or a company using a personal desktop computer. It is a business degree that mixes office, business, art, graphic design, digital photography and page layout, with some basic web writing thrown in for good meaure. It was really a lot of fun and I learned to use a variety of software. I was on the Dean's list every term and graduated with a 3.98 accumulative GPA.

I have a major farm background. I was born and raised on a farm and have animals of own. Also, while I was going to college I worked at Schricker's Livestock Auction, Rockin' B Feeds, and Dillard Farm Market (formally Burke's Blue Fruit Stand).

After graduation I volunteered at Monitors and More, a non-profit computer recycling center writing web sites. My boss became involved with several different businesses and over the course of time I was involved in most of them. I was put on payroll and my duties while I was there included (but were not limited to):

  • Mentoring a blind person to write web sites
  • Selling on ebay
  • Teaching computer classes at Project Literacy
  • Managing the Kid Cents store
  • Designing signs at Durasign
  • Designing, building, and/or maintaining the web sites

    • My boss moved out of the area to do other things so I decided to come on back to the farm and do my work from here. So here I sit, writing code like crazy!
